THE BONUS ROUND is a new musical written by Hal Cantor and Bobby Cronin, based on Hal Cantor's original play. Music supervision by Nick Finlow.

A NOTE FROM THE WRITERS
We grew up in different places with the same strange devotion. Hal spent his sick days — real or invented — glued to Password Plus marathons, already dreaming of a place behind the host's podium. Bobby had the same obsession, the same private joy in doorbells, buzzers and showcase turns. Years later, when Bobby's theater company was looking for material, THE BONUS ROUND reached his desk. He recognized not just a good script, but a fellow game-show kid. He directed the successful 1998 production, and somewhere along the way it became clear to both of us that this story wanted to sing.

That's the real origin of THE BONUS ROUND — two people who understood, on some deep, slightly embarrassing level, why a kid might retreat into a game show in his head rather than face the world outside it. We've spent years figuring out how to bring that feeling to the stage, and how the hits of the late '70s could do more than decorate the story — they could become part of its emotional world. THE BONUS ROUND is the result of that ongoing conversation between two old friends who never really grew out of wanting to play.
